A referral for a young person to join The Mentoring Programme as a mentee is submitted and is received by the mentoring team.

An application form to volunteer as a mentor is submitted and reviewed by the mentoring team.

The young person, their parent/carer and any relevant support professionals are invited for an induction meeting with a member of the mentoring team. During this meeting, the YP completes a personality test and sets their own goals.

Applicants are invited to attend a group interview focused on understanding why they want to be a mentor, why they would be good at mentoring and if they are a great team worker.

Step 2 Yellow

The young person is then matched on a range of areas, including personality, availability, goal areas and hobbies/interests with the perfect mentor for them.

Step 3 Red

Successful applicants undergo a DBS check, complete their personality test and complete training in safeguarding and the basics of mentoring prior to starting their role.
