The National Youth Orchestra are performing at The Way Youth Zone on Saturday 9th July
Young people between 13-19 years old (or up to 25 with a disability) can come to The Way for FREE on Saturday 9th July between 4pm and 9pm as part of our Music Night. We’ve got the National Youth Orchestra, singers, rappers and bands performing throughout the night. We’ll have loads of activities happening and there might be a little bit of FREE food too.
74 young musicians from around the UK have come together to form the NYO Inspire Orchestra. They will be performing Nina Rota’s circus-themed La Strada (the score from the Italian film by Federico Fellini), taking on a unique rendition of the piece that creatively integrates spoken word and movement. They’re pretty awesome…
With the average age of 16, the 74 young musicians will rehearse intently for 6 days at the University of Wolverhampton, working closely with NYO Musicians, Tutors, and conductor Duncan Ward. They then embark on a 4-day concert tour of the West Midlands, bringing orchestral music to diverse places from schools to youth centres to art venues. The tour takes them to Heartlands Academy, Selly Park Technology College for Girls, South Bromsgrove High School, The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone, mac birmingham, and Forest Arts Centre.
