Staff and young people at The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton, last week participated in a range of activities in light of National Obesity Awareness Week.
There were healthy smoothie making and tasting sessions, Boxercise and Zumba classes with Dance Instructor Jazzy P taking the lead! A number of sessions involved Youth workers discussing the importance of healthy eating and keeping fit with young people.
Josh Merrick, Youth Work Activities and Projects Coordinator at The Way said: “We put on a range of sports activities here at The Way almost every night. As obesity is on the rise, especially within Wolverhampton, we wanted to really promote National Obesity Awareness Week and to let our young people know that eating healthily and staying fit can be fun! We had some really positive feedback from our young people and both the Boxercise and Zumba classes went down well. This is something we are planning to do more of.”
