Mentoring

TAILORED SUPPORT, TRUSTED RELATIONSHIPS, POSITIVE FUTURES

What is MAP Mentoring?

MAP (Mentoring Aspirations Plus) is a dedicated project supporting young people in care through personalised mentoring, inclusive activities and collaborative support.

We work with foster parents, social workers and professionals to ensure every young person feels seen, heard and supported, preparing them for the challenges that young people face.

Who do we support?

Young people aged 8–18 who are in care or have experience of the care system.

Membership is free for all mentees and entry into the Youth Zone is also free on the day of their mentoring session — including access to over 20 activities and a free hot meal. It’s a safe, consistent space where young people in care can build trusted relationships and feel supported every step of the way.

Who can refer?

  • Foster parents
  • Social workers
  • Residential care staff
  • Youth support professionals

WHY IT MATTERS

Meeting Individual Needs

We use information shared by professionals to shape mentoring plans that reflect each young person’s unique circumstances.

Building Confidence & Independence

Our approach helps young people develop resilience, social skills and a sense of belonging—both within the Youth Zone and beyond.

Creating Positive Outcomes

MAP mentoring helps young people in care feel empowered to make choices, build relationships and explore new opportunities.

HOW WE SUPPORT YOUNG PEOPLE

Tailored Mentoring Sessions

We offer one-to-one mentoring that’s built around each young person’s needs, interests and goals. Sessions focus on building trust, confidence and life skills.

Evening Sessions at The Way

Young people can access our vibrant Youth Zone, where they can take part in sports, creative arts, music and more, alongside peers in a safe, inclusive environment.

We collaborate with professionals across the care system to ensure joined-up support and consistent communication around each young person’s journey.
