Wolverhampton Went Pink — and Raised Over £11,000 for Local Young People!

September saw Wolverhampton awash in pink as The Way Youth Zone launched its first-ever Paint The City Pink campaign — and the response was incredible! Thanks to the creativity and generosity of young people, families, staff, and local organisations, an amazing £11,334 was raised to support youth across the city.

From pink outfits and endurance walks to raffles and running events, the whole community got involved to make a difference. The month was packed with fun, fundraising, and feel-good moments.

Why Pink?

Pink is the colour worn by The Way’s youth workers — the friendly faces you’ll see inside the building and out in the community, especially during darker evenings. They’re out there offering warmth, support, and opportunities to young people wherever they go.

Highlights from the Month:

  • Wolverhampton Half Marathon & 10K Run – Youth Zone staff and parents hit the streets to raise funds.
  • Safran Golf Day – Over 20 teams teed off in support of The Way.
  • Gough Group’s Family Day – A 125-year celebration with generous donations.
  • Thomas Telford School Pupils – Students from the NEST project led their own fundraising.
  • BNI Achievers’ Pop of Pink Day – Members donated to wear pink at work.
  • Nationwide Building Society – Weekly pink outfits and a customer raffle.
  • Taylor Woodrow’s Ultra Challenge – A 100km walk from Putney Bridge to Henley-on-Thames!
  • Online Donations – Supporters from across Wolverhampton chipped in.

“This campaign has been a joyful celebration of everything The Way stands for — community, opportunity, and hope,” said Lisa Carson, Director of Fundraising. “We’re blown away by the support. The money raised will help power a year of possibility — funding the materials we use every day in activities like art, sport, wellbeing, cooking, music, and games.”

Paint The City Pink is set to become an annual tradition, bringing Wolverhampton together to support the next generation. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, or cheered us on!
